Two cruise ships damaged in Vancouver docking incident

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — A cruise ship coming into Canada Place in Vancouver Harbor on Saturday struck another cruise ship already at the dock, damaging both, the Vancouver Sun reported.

Holland America, which owns both of the ships involved, said Oosterdam backed into the stern of Nieuw Amsterdam shortly before 7 a.m. No one was injured and passengers were able to leave the ship as planned.

Holland America said six stateroom verandas on Nieuw Amsterdam were damaged, and Oosterdam sustained minimal damage. It said all required repairs were well above the waterline and seaworthiness of both ships wasn't affected.
