(LASKUTUS, Finland) — The Finnish Safety Investigation Authority has released the United States Coast Guard’s Report of Investigation (ROI) on the grounding of Arctia’s multipurpose icebreaker Fennica. The grounding occurred near Dutch Harbor, Alaska, on July 2, 2015. A marine pilot was on board the vessel at the time of the event.

The ROI concludes that the primary causal factor leading to the grounding was the inaccuracy of nautical charts in the area. The sounding data of the area was from 1935. A hydrographic survey has been conducted after the grounding and charts have been updated. The event did not cause any injuries or environmental damage.
