(CHICAGO) — Flooding halted barge traffic Wednesday on the Illinois River, with many locations not expecting a crest until next week, Reuters reported. The high water prompted futures market operator CME Group to declare force majeure for all corn and soybean shipping stations for the first time in more than two years. Supplies of corn and soy, shipped by companies such as Cargill, Archer Daniels Midland and Bunge, are large after massive U.S. harvests last year.
