(GRANITE CITY, Ill.) — Lock 27 at Chain of Rocks Canal was closed for five days for emergency repairs, St. Louis Business Journal reported. Closure of the damaged lock stranded an estimated 455 barges. The Army Corps reopened navigation Thursday after rock had to be cleared from a protection cell, which needed replacement.
