TitanSalvage to remove New Carissa wreckage from Oregon beach

(COOS BAY, Oregon) — The grounded bulk carrier New Carissa, a curiosity along an Oregon beach since it wrecked in 1999, will be removed by a salvor, the Register-Guard newspaper of Eugene reported. TitanSalvage of Florida will do the work, which will cost an estimated $16.4 million. Titan will use barges with eight 300-ton hydraulic pullers in a “roll and cut” method.
