West Virginia bridge is closed after loose coal barge strikes pier

(ST. ALBANS, W.V.) — Two coal barges got loose from a towboat and one struck a bridge pier, the Charleston Daily Mail newspaper reported. The Nitro-St. Albans Bridge was closed for about an hour. The towing vessel was able to round up the loose barges and tow them away.
