Wave capsizes ‘unsinkable’ Coast Guard boat

(SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.) — An estimated 22- to 25-foot wave capsized one of the Coast Guard’s new 47-foot rescue boats at Morro Bay, California, the Web site Global Surf News reported. The vessel was part of a training mission in heavy surf when the unusually large wave battered it. Morro Bay is one of the nation’s most dangerous waterways. The Coast Guard said no one was injured, and the boat was not damaged and is back in service.
