Massachusetts Maritime Academy signs contract with SpecTec for software partnership

Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA)and SpecTec have entered into a Cooperation Agreement in which SpecTec has agreed to donate AMOS licenses for MMA’s Teaching & Training courses. This is the first license donation partnership with a Maritime Academy in the US for SpecTec. International partners include Dalian Maritime University, National Taiwan Ocean University and Italian Maritime Academy to name a few. MMA has extended an invitation to SpecTec CEO, Giampiero Soncini to visit the campus in 2009 for a formal signing event.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s programs include Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, International Maritime Business, Facilities Engineering, Marine Safety and Environmental Protection, and Emergency Management. MMA is the largest Maritime Academy in the US, and through the signing of the agreement, SpecTec has agreed to sponsor up to 100 licenses of its AMOS business suite software modules and will also be donating the AMOS2 Enterprise software due in February 2009. This software will be loaded at the International Maritime Business Center at MMA and various computer labs, and will enhance the academic experience and placement potential of students attending MMA. The use of AMOS will help the maritime students to better understand all the business and management aspects of shipping, machinery and nautical equipment, vessel and fleet maintenance strategy, surveys and certificates as well as the Rules and Regulations in Shipping. The software is currently being used by various shipping companies across the globe and this partnership will help MMA in producing maritime professionals who are better equipped to meet the required skill sets in the current job market.
