Intermarine’s Schmidt accepts post in Shanghai
Intermarine has announced that Michael Schmidt recently transferred to the company’s new Shanghai office. Michael will have direct management responsibility for project development and pricing activities in the company’s Far East, India and Arabian Gulf service.
Intermarine’s Asia Manager, Richard Seeg, commented, “We are very pleased to have Michael joining our team. His knowledge of operations, chartering and corporate sales will be invaluable to us, as we continue to expand services, and to develop the shore side staff and systems needed to support our activities in Asia. Most importantly, Michael exemplifies Intermarine’s customer focused approach to service.”
Mr. Schmidt has spent his career at Intermarine working for the Asia service group from the company’s New Orleans and Houston offices. He joined Intermarine in 2001 as Operations Manager for Intermarine’s Worldwide Services. Most recently he held the position of Commercial Development Manager, servicing many major corporate accounts. Mr. Schmidt received a BS in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. He is a USCG licensed unlimited tonnage officer as well as a Lieutenant in the US Navy reserve.
“The intra-Asia market and our services in the region are expanding swiftly,” commented Andre Grikitis, President of Intermarine. “In order to deliver the consistency of service that we pride ourselves on, we needed a core of veterans in Asia immediately. Michael’s experience and familiarity with Asia allows him to have an immediate impact both commercially in the trade and educationally within our growing Shanghai office. We are most grateful that Michael enthusiastically accepted this challenge and agreed to move to Shanghai.”
