Bloomberg TV report on Army Corps rock pinnacle removal, impact on barge commerce

(THEBES, IIl.) — The Army Corps of Engineers has fast-tracked a project to remove rock pinnacles from the Mississippi River, Bloomberg TV reported. Maritime operators including AEP say the removal of the obstacles is needed for the barge industry to cope with low water levels. The Army Corps contractors are using barges with jackhammers and backhoes to remove the rocks near Thebes, Ill.
