PVA issues coronavirus reopening guidelines

The following is text of a news release from the Passenger Vessel Association (PVA):

(ALEXANDRIA, Va.) — The Passenger Vessel Association has developed and released a guidance document titled "Reopening Guidelines: Getting the Domestic Passenger Vessel Industry Back Underway." The document, which was developed by the PVA Safety and Security Committee, uses the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) limiting the effects of coronavirus. Other organizations at the federal, state and local levels may also have recommendations.

"The U.S. small passenger vessel industry has always been highly focused on ensuring the safety of its passengers and crew," said Colleen Stephens, PVA 2020 president. "The information provided in this new PVA document will help PVA members take the steps necessary to assure the traveling public that we will protect their health and well-being when onboard our vessels."

The new document discusses:

• Monitoring employee and passenger health

• Healthy hygiene practices

• Social distancing

• Personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Cleaning and disinfecting

New protocols will be added to the document at www.passengervessel.com as new information emerges.
