(SMITH ISLAND, Wash.) — Forty-three passengers were evacuated from a whale-watching boat after it struck a rock and began taking on water Thursday, Global News reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched several crews after receiving a distress call from the 4 Ever Wild catamaran at about 12:30 p.m., and good Samaritan boats also responded.

The vessel is owned by Eagle Wing Whale & Wildlife Tours based in Victoria, British Columbia, which said the boat struck a rock near Smith Island, about six miles off the coast of Whidbey Island.

All of the passengers and the three crewmembers were reported safe.
