(WASHINGTON) — The board of directors of the International Propeller Club of the United States has selected John M. Cullather as its new executive vice president. In the role, he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the International Propeller Club, will oversee all activities and functions of the International Propeller Club of the United States, and will serve as the primary liaison to the club’s 70 port chapters worldwide. Along with the board of directors, the Executive Committee and individual Propeller Club ports around the world, he will develop and implement a strategic direction to further the goals of the International Propeller Club.
Cullather is a well-known figure in the maritime community. He served for more than 32 years as a professional staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives as staff director of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation. During his career in Congress, he advanced policy and legislation involving all aspects of marine transportation including the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, numerous Coast Guard authorization bills, and the complete recodification of Title 46, U.S. Code, which rewrote all of the Coast Guard’s vessel inspection, manning and licensing laws. Among his many honors, he was awarded the Distinguished Public Service Award from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Samuel Plimsoll Award from the editors of Professional Mariner magazine, and the President’s Award from the National Association of Boating Safety Law Administrators.

The International Propeller Club of the United States, founded in 1927, is an international business network of maritime professionals dedicated to the promotion of the maritime industry, commerce, and global trade.
