Entries being accepted for 2019 NAMEPA Awards

The following is text of a news release from the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA):

(WESTON, Conn.) — NAMEPA annually recognizes companies, associations, government agencies, academic institutions and individuals whose efforts support the group's mission to "Save Our Seas." Since its inception in 2007, NAMEPA has been engaging maritime businesses, regulators, conservation groups and the public by promoting sound environmental practices. Previous award recipients have included Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Maersk, Euronav, APL, Teekay Shipping, the Port of Montreal, the U.S. Coast Guard, and National Geographic.

Entries for the 2019 NAMEPA Awards are now being accepted in the following categories: Maritime Industry Award; Government, Federal, State or Local Environmental Agency Award; Congressional Award; Port Award; Individual Award; Maritime Academies, Harbor Schools, Universities Award; Nonprofit Environmental Entity Award; Innovation Award; and the Seafarers Ministry Award.
 
Deadline for submissions is Aug. 23. All submissions will be reviewed by the NAMEPA board of directors and the recipients selected. Winners will be notified no later than Sept. 6.  

This year’s NAMEPA awards will be presented at our annual NAMEPA Environmental Awards Dinner being held in New York on Oct. 24 following the annual Marine Environment Protection Conference.

The North American Marine Environment Protection Association is a marine industry-led organization of environmental stewards preserving the marine environment by promoting sustainable marine industry best practices and educating seafarers, students and the public about the need and strategies for protecting global ocean, lake and river resources.
