(HARVEY, La.) — Aluma Marine LLC has delivered two 30-foot shoreline survey boats to the City of New York Department of Environmental Protection. The boats are tasked with supporting the city’s Harbor Monitoring Program, which monitors water quality and other environmental matters in the waters surrounding the five boroughs of New York City.

The all-welded aluminum boats, Sea Robin and Tide Runner, are powered by twin 250-hp Honda four-stroke outboard engines.

At factory sea trials, the boats ran at 55 mph. The electronics suites include Furuno FZTL systems which incorporate 36-mile radars, plotters, GPS and depth sounders. ICOM VHF radios are installed as well as Whelen siren/public address systems.

For crew comfort, the boats have heating and air conditioning powered by 9-kW Northern Lights generator sets, and Norcold refrigerators.

In addition, this hull design can be reconfigured for other missions including firefighting, law enforcement and various other commercial and military applications.

Aluma designs and builds heavy-duty, all-aluminum vessels for government, military, municipal and commercial use with special emphasis on performance, crew safety and comfort, and operational objectives.
