The following is the text of a news release from the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College:
(THROGGS NECK, N.Y.) — Rapidly changing technology is forcing change in every industry, and the maritime industry is no different. Digitization, automation and an explosion of data are affecting operations in facilities, from ports to ships, and in the way professionals do their work. Yet other parts of the industry have remained largely unchanged for decades.
To help bridge the gap and assist maritime companies in finding solutions to modern problems, the newly launched SUNY Maritime Global Technologies Innovation Center will host a reverse-pitch session at the college’s campus the morning of Thursday, March 15.
The session will allow professionals from across the maritime industry to present issues and problems to emerging young companies in technology and finance in the hope of working together to find innovative solutions.
During the event, the maritime firms will pitch the critical needs they have to address enduring pain points, challenges and potential ideas for change to entrepreneurs looking to break into this vital component of the global economy.
Maritime Global Technologies is currently seeking companies and professionals interested in presenting their digital or non-digital challenges to a room of innovators and entrepreneurs.
