MarineCFO adding cybersecurity checklists to Vessel 365

(HOUMA, La.) — In a continuing effort to raise awareness and promote good cyberhygiene in the maritime industry, MarineCFO will release an actionable set of checklists to fleets running the Vessel 365 platform.

An industry first, the checklists are designed to engender cybersecurity into the psyche of mariners, DPAs, TPOs, and inspectors, as well as shoreside personnel. They offer a concise but simple way for mariners to undergo cybertraining, record those events, memorialize lessons learned, perform cyberdrills, and improve the physical and digital security of the vessel. It also serves as a means to report cyberincidents or attempted attacks to authorities and other interested parties.

At the recent IMX show in St Louis, MarineCFO's Dean Shoultz chaired a session on cybersecurity. Additionally, Shoultz sits on the American Waterways Operators cybersecurity panel.

“At MarineCFO our mission is to provide technology leadership and digital transformation solutions to the maritime industry, enabling our customers to operate more safely, securely, and profitably," said Shoultz. “We have built these checklists around the principles described in the NIST 800-171 cybersecurity framework. This framework simplifies the technical aspects of cybersecurity and expresses it in terms easily understood by mariners, and specific to the day-to-day operations of a marine transportation company.”

These checklists will be available for transmit on June 18 for existing clients, and will be included as part of the Vessel 365 installation for new users. For more information, or to see a demo of Vessel 365, email lmartin@marinecfo.com or visit www.marinecfo.com.
