(NEW ORLEANS) — A lifeboat fell from the cruise ship Carnival Dream on Saturday in the Gulf of Mexico, with the damaged boat left at sea after crewmembers were unable to lift it back on board, Cruise Hive reported.

The cruise ship, which was en route to New Orleans when the incident occurred, turned around and came to a stop to retrieve the fallen craft. Another lifeboat was dispatched and crewmembers were able to bring the damaged boat alongside Carnival Dream, but it could not be raised due to a large hole in the upper bow.

In a prepared statement, Carnival Cruise Line said arrangements are being made to replace the lifeboat on Jan. 6. The ship was sailing on a seven-night western Caribbean itinerary which included calls in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico.

Carnival Dream joined the fleet in 2009 and completed a major dry dock in February 2017.
