Tugboat sinks at BC log booming ground

(SHUSWAP LAKE, British Columbia) — A mill tugboat with about 1,050 gallons of diesel aboard sank Monday at a log booming ground in Shuswap Lake, the Salmon Arm Observer reported. The tug, operated by Canoe Forest Products, sank in about 90 feet of water off Ruckell Point. No injuries were reported and containment boom was deployed in the area. Health officials reported that a small amount of diesel could be seen on the lake. The company is investigating the cause of the accident.
