Nov 3, 2017 04:08 PM

(HONOLULU) — Pasha Hawaii has announced that it will continue the deployment of the Jones Act vessel Horizon Spirit in service of the Puerto Rico market to support hurricane relief and rebuilding efforts beyond the vessel’s initial voyage from the Port of Los Angeles to the Port of San Juan.

Horizon Spirit arrived Wednesday at the Port of San Juan, bringing nearly 800 containers filled with bottled water to assist in humanitarian relief for the people of Puerto Rico. Pasha Hawaii remains committed to the ongoing hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, and will make the vessel available as long as it can help the island’s people and businesses.

On Monday, Horizon Spirit is expected to depart Jacksonville, Fla., with a full complement of cargo utilizing the vessel’s 170 refrigerated and over 700 dry containers’ capacity. On Thursday, Horizon Spirit will deliver those critical relief supplies to Puerto Rico on behalf of fellow Jones Act carriers Crowley Maritime Corp. and TOTE Maritime.

“As the Puerto Rico community recovers and rebuilds after Hurricane Maria, we are here to support the community and our fellow Jones Act carriers any way we can,” said George Pasha, IV, president and CEO, Pasha Hawaii. “This demonstrates the strength of the Jones Act and the powerful resources that can be brought together to serve the needs of the country. We are honored to be part of this important effort.”
