(AKUTAN ISLAND, Alaska) — Two tugboats towed a containership to safety after it lost power and began drifting late Friday in the Aleutian Islands, KTVA Alaska reported.

Laura Maersk had roughly 51,500 gallons of fuel oil on board at the time, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation. DEC officials initially said the ship had suffered an engine fire, but noted in an update Saturday night that no sign of a fire was found.

The ship had been reported adrift north of Akutan Island as of about 1400 hours Friday, DEC officials said. By 0030 on Saturday, it was about seven miles from the island and about four hours away from grounding. Two tugs towed the ship to Dutch Harbor later Saturday.
