(PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.) — A barge that broke from its tow and beached at St. Andrews State Park remained there Thursday after an effort to remove it failed, NWF Daily News reported. The hopper barge, owned by SCF Marine and used to transport scrap metal, drifted ashore Wednesday morning after its towline snapped in stormy weather Tuesday night. A line snapped Wednesday afternoon when a tug tried to pull the barge from the beach. Efforts were set to resume Friday morning when the tide is higher.
