One dead, 2 missing after tug strikes Tappan Zee Bridge construction barge

 

(YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y.) — One crewman was killed and two others are missing as a result of a tugboat accident this morning on the Hudson River, the Journal News newspaper reported. Authorities said the tug Specialist collided with a construction barge at the Tappan Zee bridge and sank. The sunken tug is operated by Specialist LLC, based in Montauk, and was part of a three-tug flotilla transporting a crane barge from Albany to Jersey City, N.J. The other two vessels, Trevor and Realist, tried to render assistance but were unsuccessful.
