(NEWPORT, R.I.) — After eight years and $16 million to build it, SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is ready to welcome students as Rhode Island’s official sailing education vessel, Rhode Island Public Radio reported. The 200-foot ship is one of the only oceangoing full-rigged vessels built in the U.S. in a century. Students aboard will work alongside a professional crew to learn about ocean navigation.
