Danelec Marine to present at technology seminar in Singapore

(BIRKEROED, Denmark) — Danelec Marine will participate in a marine technology seminar for shipowners and ship managers in Singapore next month.

Hans Ottosen, chief executive officer of Danelec Marine, will give a presentation on the latest developments in voyage data recorder technology to enhance safety and efficiency of ship operations. He will discuss how selective remote access functionality can be leveraged to facilitate transfer of data from shipboard systems and sensors through the VDR to shore offices for analysis. He will also discuss cybersecurity protections built into the Danelec Marine VDR products.

“Increasingly, shipping companies are looking for ways to utilize Big Data to improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimize ship performance,” said Ottosen. “This requires access to real-time data from ships at sea. Using the VDR as a central data collection point and clearing house will greatly reduce the cost of installing and maintaining a bespoke data network using dedicated data connections with numerous items of equipment throughout the ship. At Danelec Marine, we have designed our new-generation VDRs with built-in capability to enable 'push-through' and 'pull-through' of data sets from ship to shore. Our analysis reveals that with this technology a ship can transmit all necessary data sets through the VDR via legacy narrow-band satellite channels for as little as one dollar per day.”

The seminar, titled “Technology Highway: Efficiency Ahead,” is being presented by Marine Innovation, in conjunction with several other major marine electronics companies. The seminar will take place from 1430 to 1730, May 5, in the Legends Ballroom at Hotel Fort Canning. It will be followed by a networking cocktail reception.
