The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:
(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a Waterways Analysis Management System study along the Atlantic coast.
This study will target the approach and entrance along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. These WAMS studies are conducted periodically to better facilitate safe and effective navigation.
This study will examine the effectiveness of aids to navigation with a focus on the following:
• Appropriateness of aids being used (size, type, lighted or unlighted);
• Need for aids to be added or removed from certain areas;
• Accuracy of private ATON;
• Bridges;
• Accuracy of navigational publications such as Coast Pilot and charts.
