Barge removed from Mississippi lock and dam

(COLUMBUS, Miss.) — One of two barges blocking the dam at the John C. Stennis Lock and Dam has been removed, WTVA News reported. A lock operator said the barge that was resting on top of a second barge was removed at 0845 on Tuesday by River Salvage of Pittsburgh, Pa. Three barges broke free from their mooring in Clay County on Dec. 26, with two striking the lock and dam.
