Tanker spills fuel during transfer off Quebec

(SALLUIT, Quebec) — Thousands of liters of diesel fuel spilled into Sugluk Inlet on Wednesday when a hose from a tanker severed during offloading, CBC News reported. Transport Desgagnes, the company that owns M/T Sarah Desgagnes, said the crew took emergency measures to disconnect the hose when the weather took a turn for the worse, but the wind and choppy water caused the propeller to strike the line. The Canadian Coast Guard estimated the spill at 2,000 to 3,000 liters.
