New SMART video features registered apprenticeship pathway

The following is the text of a news release from the Southeast Maritime and Transportation (SMART) Center:

(VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) — The SMART Center's newest installment in its "Make the SMART Choice" career awareness video series features three registered apprentices from different walks of life who are earning academic and industry credentials highly valued in the maritime and transportation industry.

The series provides educators, faculty, administrators, counselors and career coaches with relevant tools to encourage students to pursue a maritime and transportation industry career pathway. The newest video features Chris Sweigart, a registered apprentice at Colonna's Shipyard with a bachelor of science degree from Virginia Tech; Gwendolyn Lee, an apprentice graduate at BAE Systems Ship Repair, and Megan McCuller, a current apprentice pursuing an A.A.S. Maritime Technologies at SMART host institution Tidewater Community College.
