New Orleans wharf closed after tugboat strike

(NEW ORLEANS) — The city has closed Piety Wharf after a tugboat struck and damaged the structure on Christmas Eve, The Times-Picayune reported. Police said the vessel struck the wharf around 1730 and that the operator was not at the scene when officers arrived. The impact damaged the northwest side of the wharf, bending steel walls and cracking concrete.
