McCain's Jones Act proposal sunk, for now

(WASHINGTON) — Sen. John McCain's bid to repeal the Jones Act has been stymied, at least for now, Tidewater Biz reported. The Arizona Republican proposed rescinding the law that governs shipping in America's coastal waters and between domestic ports, sparking strong opposition from the U.S. maritime industry. McCain attached the provision as an amendment to an unrelated bill on the Keystone XL pipeline, but the amendment wasn't considered during Senate debate last week.
