Huntington Ingalls, Kinder Morgan drop bid to redevelop Avondale shipyard

(NEW ORLEANS) — Huntington Ingalls Industries and energy company Kinder Morgan have announced that they will not be moving forward with a joint venture to redevelop Avondale shipyard, The Times-Picayune reported. Huntington Ingalls tabbed the shipyard for closure in 2011 as part of a consolidation of its Gulf Coast shipbuilding activity to Pascagoula, Miss. The company said Monday that it "will continue to assess all alternatives for future use of the facility, to include selling the property."
