The following is the text of a news release from Fremont Maritime:
(SEATTLE) — Fremont Maritime is now offering monthly, open-enrollment HAZWOPER training at its Seattle facility. These classes cover the OSHA/Washington state training requirements in 29 CFR 1910.120(q) and WAC 296-824 for Hazardous Material Technician level responders. These courses are designed for those individuals who respond to and assume an offensive role regarding hazardous substance releases or potential releases.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires that mariners expected to respond to oil spills from their own vessels must have this training. Once an individual has completed the initial 24-hour class, he or she must take an eight-hour refresher class every 12 months.
