Alphatron Marine signs global maintenance agreement with Van Oord

(ROTTERDAM, Netherlands) — Alphatron Marine has announced the signing of a three-year global maintenance agreement with Van Oord. The contract will be to exclusively maintain and proactively support all navigation and communication equipment on Van Oord's entire fleet of more than 80 vessels.

Van Oord, specializing in dredging, offshore oil and gas and offshore wind, operates internationally and requires that each vessel be ready to be put to work effectively at any time.

Jeroen Kortsmit, global business development manager for Alphatron Marine, said, “With this agreement we will be able to schedule periodic maintenance well in advance and ultimately minimize the risk of downtime. During the three-year contract Alphatron Marine will play an active role in recommending full life-cycle support of the bridge equipment, aiming for the best possible efficiency for Van Oord.”

Jaap de Jong, director of ship management for Van Oord, said, "With this strategic partnership in place we optimize our supply chain, which will give way to operational improvement and cost reductions in our fleet management."

Additionally, Alphatron Marine will offer more innovative ways to improve support and maintenance — for example, the recently introduced AlphaEye. This device offers the extra capability of real-time audio visual support directly with a support specialist standing by on shore.

Both companies share a philosophy of continuous innovation within their respective markets and have dedicated people driven by a common passion. Another unintentional but powerful benefit is that the head offices of Alphatron Marine and Van Oord are literally situated next to each other in Rotterdam, alongside the river Nieuwe Maas.
