Chief engineer dies after fall on St. Lawrence ship

(MASSENA, N.Y.) — The chief engineer on a Liberian tanker died in a fall as the ship was navigating the St. Lawrence River, the Watertown Daily Times reported. Investigators said Sergey Menzhiliy of Russia fell about 10 feet from a flight of stairs while returning to the engine control room aboard MCT Altair. An autopsy revealed that he died due to a pre-existing medical condition.
