Research ship sinks in Gulf of Mexico; all 12 crew rescued

(PENSACOLA, Fla.) — Twelve crewmembers were rescued when a 170-foot research ship sank in the Gulf of Mexico, the news site al.com reported. Water flooded the engine room of the Seaprobe and the crew needed to abandon ship into three life rafts they tied together. Two helicopter hoisted all the people, and there were no serious injuries.
