Marine engineers testing solar-powered sails for commercial ships

(FUKUOKA, Japan) — Marine engineers from Japan have designed a solar-energy-equipped metal sail for commercial ships, the news website TakePart.com reported. The devices harness both wind and sun energy to help reduce fossil-fuel at sea. The company Eco Marine Power is testing the EnergySail system and is working on making them automatically align themselves with the wind and weather.
