Carnival to spend $300M to add emergency power generation, avoid blackouts

(MIAMI) — Carnival Corp. will spend $300 million to upgrade all of its ships in an effort to avoid blackouts, USA Today reported on its Cruise Log blog. The company said it will add more emergency generator capacity and will redesign electrical systems to avoid shutdown of redundant power. The company also is forming a Safety and Reliability Review Board consisting of outside experts.
