Captain suspended after Va. ferry pulls away from dock while cars were loading

(JAMESTOWN, Va.) — A ferry departed the dock while cars were still boarding, and one car fell into the James River, the Daily Press newspaper reported. The captain of the ferry Surry was suspended after the accident. A witness said the car's driver was able to exit a window and climb up to the top of the car and then to safety just before the car went underneath the ferry.
