Breakaway barges hit two bridges in Arkansas

(PULASKI COUNTY, Ark.) — The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating what caused multiple barges to dislodge from a towboat Friday evening and strike parts of two bridges on the Arkansas River, FOX16.com reported. The barges, part of a 12-barge tow, hit protective cells in front of the Interstate 30 bridge and the Clinton pedestrian bridge. Both bridges were closed until officials determined that they were not damaged.
