Report: Unexploded bombs pose threat to Gulf mariners, oil rigs

(COLLEGE STATION, Texas) — Unexploded bombs pose a threat to mariners and oil rigs it the Gulf of Mexico, Environment News Service reported. Millions of pounds of various explosives were dumped between 1946 and 1970. Oceanographers say the they could explode or leak chemical agents. The U.S. Army is testing a remotely operated robot for use in identifying and recovering the explosives.
