Report: Shell drillship drags anchor, may have beached

(DUTCH HARBOR, Alaska) — A Shell drillship dragged anchor and drifted towards shore near Dutch Harbor, the Anchorage Daily News reported. Noble Discoverer, which is preparing for exploratory drilling in the Alaska Arctic later this summer, was pulled away from the shore by tugboats including Lauren Foss and Gyrfalcon, and the company and Coast Guard say the ship was not damaged. There were conflicting witness reports as to whether the vessel grounded up on the beach, and photos show the ship very close to the beach.
