Report: Sandy exposed NY-NJ's maritime fuel-delivery vulnerabilities

(STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.) — Hurricane Sandy has revealed vulnerabilities in the fuel-delivery and harbor infrastructure in the New York and New Jersey region, Reuters reported. The storm caused vast vessel-traffic problems and required Coast Guard channel surveys and debris removal before pilots could guide tanker traffic back into port again. There were also significant maritime spill responses at damaged oil terminals.
