Report: Idled Mississippi River fleet costs industry $1M per day

(GREENVILLE, Miss.) — The idling of the Mississippi River barge fleet due to low water is costing the industry $1 million per day, Time magazine reported. About 100 vessels are stuck while the Coast Guard enforces an 11-mile closure in the area of Greenville, Miss. It's the worst instance of low water for navigation since 1988.
