More wind-aided, alternative-fuel cargo ships in design phase

(NEW YORK) — More ships are being designed with wind systems to supplement engine propulsion, the New York Times reported. One of the wind-aided designs incorporates a Rolls Royce biogas-fueled engine and does not use any fossil fuel. Researchers believe ship operators will turn to money-saving alternative fuels if it helps them make a profit.
