Mississippi River, industrial canal cleared of vessels as hurricane approaches

(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard was preparing to close the Mississippi River in Louisiana as Hurricane Isaac approached, the Times-Picayune newspaper reported. The river and Industrial Canal was cleared of vessels. The few remaining vessels were supposed to be securely anchored.
