Labor, safety dispute stalls Marine Highway program at Stockton port

(STOCKTON, Calif.) — The planned Marine Highway initiative at the Port of Stockton has been delayed because of labor problems, the Stockton Record newspaper reported. The plan is to shuttle cargo containers on barges between Oakland and Stockton and later Sacramento. Longshoreman said the stevedoring provider is trying to work with an insufficient number of employees.
