Coast Guard closes 11-mile stretch of Mississippi River due to low water

(GREENVILLE, Miss.) — Commercial marine traffic has ground to a halt on the Mississippi River as an 11-mile stretch was closed today due to low water, National Public Radio reported. The Coast Guard said the area is near Greenville, Miss. At least 117 vessels are stranded while the Army Corps assesses the need for dredging.
