Contract kicks off nation's naval shipbuilding initiative
(OTTAWA) -- The government has signed a $9.3 million contract with Irving Shipbuilding to kick off the nation's major naval shipbuilding project, the Globe and Mail newspaper reported. The Nova Scotia company will build 22 vessels under contracts totaling $25 billion. The first stage will fund the planning and design of Arctic offshore patrol ships.
