American captain, cargo ship held in Venezuela on weapons charge

(MARACAIBO, Venezuela) — An American ship captain and crew have been freed after being held for over a week in Venezuela over a charge of transporting weapons, Fox News Latino reported. The cargo ship Ocean Atlas had three rifles in storage, and the guns were declared on customs paperwork. The captain was detained Aug. 29 and the crew was required to remain on the vessel until the charges were dropped on Sunday.
